The Copper-Wrought Cleansing Bar

Crafting a Limited Edition: Inside the Copper Revitalising Shampoo Bar

Every so often, a creative wave moves through my workspace and something new insists on being made. This is how many of my special editions are born — not as part of a scheduled product line, but as spontaneous alchemical experiments that happen when the ingredients, the intuition, and the moment all align. Over the years, some of these limited-run creations have gained such good feedback that they’ve ended up becoming regular items in the Simple Truths Foundation range. Others remain as one-offs, quietly powerful and never repeated. Both outcomes are part of the rhythm I've learned to trust.

I’ve been formulating cosmetic products for around ten years now, but my connection with colloidal silver stretches back far longer — twenty-seven years of working with, studying, refining, and experimenting with it. The copper-infused shampoo bar follows naturally from that lineage. Copper has its own distinct energetic and cosmetic signature, and when used carefully it brings a sense of vitality, clarity, and renewal to scalp and hair formulations.

For this limited edition batch I used a SLS-free melt-and-pour shampoo base as the foundation, then layered in a series of carefully chosen supporting ingredients. MSM provides its familiar crystalline softness, helping the bar glide through the hair while offering a soothing effect to the scalp. Black seed oil — a long-time favourite of mine for its strength, depth, and unmistakable character — adds nourishment and a subtle richness without overpowering the texture of the base.

Kelp powder contributes a mineral-green resonance and a touch of oceanic memory, giving the bar a grounding quality as well as trace marine nutrients. Two forms of copper are present: colloidal copper from my own 4K batch, and a tiny amount of copper sulphate, each bringing unique tonal and visual effects. The blend settles into a pale aqua shade reminiscent of old-world patinas and mineral springs.

The essential oils form the emotional tone of the bar. For this creation I chose a fivefold accord: frankincense for depth, sandalwood for warmth, chamomile for soothing balance, lavender for its harmonising quality, and a thread of lemon to brighten the edges. Together they give the bar a clean, resin-citrus aroma that feels both calming and invigorating.

As with many of my special editions, this copper shampoo bar isn’t part of a mass-production cycle. It arises from the same place all my handmade work comes from — curiosity, intuition, and that old craftsperson’s urge to see what happens when certain elements meet under the right conditions. I enjoy releasing these one-off formulations because they keep the creative process alive and allow customers to experience something fresh and unexpected.

If the feedback is strong, I sometimes adopt the formula into the main range and refine it further. If not, it remains a unique piece of the ongoing journey. Either way, I’m grateful to still be creating after all these years, still experimenting, still following the thread of inspiration that began with colloidal silver almost three decades ago and somehow continues to unfold.

MINI FAQ — Copper Revitalising Shampoo Bar

✨ What makes this a “limited edition”?

I create special batches whenever a creative wave comes through. Some stay one-off experiments, others become regular products if feedback is strong.

✨ What’s the main benefit of copper in a shampoo bar?

It adds a revitalising, cleansing “clarity” to the scalp and gives the bar its soft aqua tone. It also complements the essential oils beautifully.

✨ Is this suitable for all hair types?

Yes — it’s gentle, SLS-free, and formulated to work for most hair and scalp types.

✨ What does it smell like?

A clean, resin-citrus aroma from frankincense, sandalwood, chamomile, lavender, and lemon. Calming but energising at the same time.

✨ What oils are in it?

Black seed oil (1.5–2%) plus the fivefold essential oil blend.

✨ Does it lather well?

Yes — the base is designed for a rich, creamy lather without SLS.

✨ Will this become a permanent product?

Possibly! If feedback is great, I may keep it in the main Simple Truths range.

✨ How long have you been making products like this?

I’ve been formulating cosmetics for about 10 years and working with colloidal silver for 27 years.

✨ Is this safe for coloured or treated hair?

Yes — very gentle. The copper content is low and doesn’t stain.
